Cinco De Mayo inspirations / Camille Styles / Austin Party Photographer by Melanie Grizzel

This is just a teensy bit late, but I love all of the color and decor so much I just have to share it anyway. Cinco De Mayo inspiration - file it away for next year ;) Camille Styles together with her team Chanel and Jen pulled together this mid-afternoon happy hour soiree to celebrate May 5. Sangria, shredded chicken and guacamole tostadas, and delicious watermelon and feta bites, staples really, were all served along side a succulent center piece and lacy table topper. The afternoon progressed to a custom photobooth with hand made Spanish flags. It's a great day to spend with friends!

The Honest Co / Jessica Alba Baby Shower / Austin Event Photographer by Melanie Grizzel

Together, The Honest Co. with Jessica Alba and The Simplifiers hosted the most adorable Vintage Garden Party-themed baby shower for Austin's deserving mom Chelsee and deserving dad John. The couple were honored by the Honest Co. along with three other couples nationwide who were hand-selected to win a whirlwind soiree for themselves and 18 guests.  Whole Foods Culinary Center was the location for this swanky affair that was very nearly rained out. The food from Whole foods, the blooms from Stems, and the colorful mismatched goblets and china from LOOT Vintage Rental came together flawlessly to make this "Garden Party" come to life!  With a lifetime supply of diapers from the Honest Co. and gobs of other swag, Chelsee will be in need of nothing, except maybe a couple of spare hands ;) If you'd like to read more about Chelsee you can find her story here.

Jette -N- Del / An Engagement Party at Lenoir / Austin Engagement Photographer by Melanie Grizzel

Recently Engaged - Jette' -N- Del. They met and fell in love while sampling Austin culinary offerings. They dined at Lenoir the night they became engaged. It was only fitting they would return to the fated restaurant for their big announcement. Their friends are like minded foodies as well, so the couple decided to throw a dinner party to make the announcement, but first to follow their food theme, they made a hand crafted chocolate invitation that was hand delivered to their guests. Guests arrived and enjoyed cocktails in the courtyard, while Courtney and Paul Sanchez played live. Then they were invited inside where they enjoyed a 4 course wine tasting menu. The room was a flutter with conversation and laughter, except when the food arrive for each course, there was a collective quiet in the room while guests enjoyed each course. Jette's and Dell quietly and quite intimately shared their plates with one another. So CUTE! The perfect night cap, Erin Ivey playing "Chocolate" in French and in English. The night was simply... delicious. Camille Styles / Halloween Party Ideas! / Austin Wedding Photographer by Melanie Grizzel

I don't know if you've ever seen "The Birds" by Alred Hitchcock... I saw it at the Paramount Theatre in late summer. I'm not afraid of birds and the movie didn't scare me, but coming out of the theatre in the late summer with all of the grackles flocking in the trees and in the area overhead... well let's just say I noticed them a little more that night ;)

Halloween Inspiration by Camille Styles.

This "The Birds" inspired party shoot was eerie and sexy with it's brooding black and white theme and tiny pops of red. It also suggests a fall/wintery feel - my favorite. Tiny birds littered the scene to reinforce the concept and make it a little scarier. The dining table from LOOT vintage rental was perfect with it's ornate and classic feel. I assure you this is not patinated, that baby is original. The table is beautifully bookended by big poofy black and white striped chairs I would gladly store for LOOT should they ever run out of room in their warehouse. The white walls and stained glass of Mercury Hall were characters all their own in this story.

The bar cart complete with vodka and tomato juice for the luxurious bloody marys. Each place setting came complete with a menu with a tiny accent feather.

All of the snacks including salted caramel apples and black bird suger cookies we expertly created by Sara from Sara Belle's Bakery. Sara explained that birds were easy by comparison, they looked pretty hard to me, until I went to her site!!! WOWzers, I can hardly wait until B's next birthday, I am going to ask Sara to rock out some Star Wars characters.

A couple branches suspended from the ceiling served as a perches for the wandering bird posse. It was a wonderful addition, and gave great dimension to the already spooky table.

The crew doubled as cast and wore their best Halloween holiday fair. Even B asked me when I was editing if she, on the right, was Cruella de Vil.

Byrd Collective's Ashley Bailey created these divine autumnal arrangements in creamy toupe and deep red, low so the hanging birds would have a little room to take flight.

Sara's beautiful and delicious cookies. B loved them, plus when he munched on them, his whole face turned black, it was so cute.

Jen came up with this outstanding idea for a photobooth, the sheer backdrop and bird cut outs shining through. So clever and what an awesome effect.

And just a couple behind the scenes so you can see just what goes into such a wonderous production.

Movie Night / Camille Styles Style Shoot / Austin Party photographer by Melanie Grizzel

A few weeks ago, Camille Styles asked me to photograph a DIY event for she was working on with Glitter Guide. It was a super fun project about throwing a (quickly) weekend movie night with friends. The artical was published in Glitter Guide a week ago and also on Camille Styles, hers includes a few recipes from Bake Sale, mmmm...

And of course there were just a few more images I was in love with and wanted to share so here are my selects from the party! Thanks for coming out.
